Inner Coastal Waters
(Point Mugu down through Santa Monica Bay, the OC coast, and San Diego to the Mexican Border, including Catalina and Anacapa Islands)

- Current Winds: Light and variable conditions early this morning (under 5 knots), transitioning to a gentle-to-moderate onshore flow this afternoon at 5 to 10 knots (mostly out of the West/Northwest). National Data Buoy Center – NOAA
- Gusts & Outlook: Conditions remain calm through mid-week with afternoon wind waves around 1 foot or less. However, a stronger onshore push is expected to build late in the week. By Saturday afternoon, look for West winds rising to 10 to 20 knots with localized gusts up to 20 knots (particularly around San Clemente Island). National Data Buoy Center – NOAA
Outer Waters
(Point Sal south to the Mexican Border, extending 10 to 60 nautical miles out, including the Channel Islands)
- Current Winds: Northwest winds hovering around 10 to 15 knots today, occasionally easing down to 5 to 10 knots closer to the islands. National Data Buoy Center – NOAA
- Gusts & Outlook: A much sharper uptick in wind and gusts is arriving later this week for the outer zones. Expect Northwest winds to ramp up to 20 to 25 knots by Thursday night, accompanied by gusts up to 35 knots and steep, choppy northwest seas building up to 8 to 10 feet. Safety Note: Keep an eye out for patchy dense fog during the late night and early morning hours across both inner and outer waters, which is dropping visibility significantly before clearing by mid-day.
